Just live on your floors. If you are afraid to entertain on them, then don’t entertain.
I am a hardwood floor business owner. There is no way you can prevent your guests from accidentally scratching the floor unless you request all people to remove their shoes. I like the idea of providing comfy slippers to your guests.

I fully understood your concern about the hardwood flooring. You can hardly ask lady audiences to change their high heels. It’s a party! Try to use self-stick felt pads to attach to the heels. It may work. Good luck.
